Use Your Social Media Skills to Win Scavenger Hunt: Downtown Dash

The challenge will start at ING DIRECT Cafe in Chicago. A series of clues will take you on an adventure across city parks, monuments and attractions. You’ll navigate through local businesses, hotels, restaurants, and possibly, even river cruises. Faced with questions and physical tasks, you will be called upon to exercise your acute social media skills to find clues and gain additional points by tweeting your answers with the event hashtag – #DTDash.

I asked Leyla, the creator, 3 questions that I hope would teach prospect attendees more about the event. Here they are below.


1) Why should all types of Social Media users sign up for Downtown Dash?
Social media users / fans of all sorts sign up – some for business purposes and exposure.  We have several social media consultants who are competing to get their names out there.  Others sign up for the sheer entertainment – they like the engagement online leading up to the “In real life” challenge.  

2) What’s the number one advice you can give participants?
Follow the twitter handle because we give away all the answers leading up to the event.  And, look at the sponsor page on the website http://www.downtowndash.net/sponsors — most of the sponsors will have a “challenge” and being familiar with them will give you an advantage. 

 

3) I overheard someone saying that some challenges require drinking? That has got to be the most fun scavenger hunt! What sneak peaks can you give us?
Actually, there are not any challenges that require drinking.  In fact, teams have to sign a waiver that states they will NOT drink during the challenge.  If teams do drink alcohol, they violate the terms of the scavenger hunt.  
We do have drinking AFTER the challenge at the after-party where everyone is invited to come celebrate with their friends.
